Boonthamurra People’s Summit 2019
25 September, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 26 September, 2019 @ 4:00 pm
The Boonthamurra Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (the PBC) invites all Boonthamurra People to join us in Roma during the September school holidays to workshop our ‘Mapping Resources to Manage Country’ Project. The Summit will provide a forum to voice opinions, concerns and goals, and enable the Boonthamurra People themselves to steer the direction of the project.
This two-day event will bring the Boonthamurra People together to explore the resources and opportunities that are available to us. Together, we will then identify how we can leverage these resources to produce outcomes for all Boonthamurra People, in the three key areas set out below.
During the summit, there will three workshops based on the three activities that constitute the ‘Mapping Resources to Manage Country’ Project. These will be:
- Mapping Country – this aspect of the Project involves developing electronic and printed maps that show important places and activities within the Boonthamurra People’s native title determination area.
- Skills Audit – this activity involves finding out what kind of skills and experience the Boonthamurra People have, and what kinds of employment, training or educational opportunities people would be interested in.

- Stakeholder Engagement Plan – this Plan will identify which individuals, councils, government departments, corporations or organisations could be advantageous for the Boonthamurra People. It will also set out a process that the PBC can use to engage these stakeholders and create partnerships or projects that create employment, training or educational opportunities for the Boonthamurra People.
By the end of the Summit the directors of the PBC hope to have a comprehensive understanding of the priorities and resources of the Boonthamurra People. We will use the information and feedback gathered at the Summit to design and implement the ‘Mapping Resources to Manage Country’ Project.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided to all attendees, and a supervised area will be allocated for the kids.
